Columbia University in the City of New York Selects Eatec’s
Back-Office Software Solution to Manage Dining Services Operations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Emeryville, CA, September 21, 2004 - Columbia University, one of the most prestigious universities in the country, has selected EatecNetX to manage its foodservice operations. The University includes three undergraduate schools, thirteen graduate and professional schools, and a school of continuing education. Servicing the entire campus, The Office of Housing and Dining operates an extensive foodservice operation that includes a dining hall and eleven retail foodservice outlets throughout campus.
Housing and Dining offers a flexible meal plan and points system that gives students the ability to choose between all foodservice outlets throughout campus. These include the John Jay Dining Hall, Ferris Booth Commons-- a European-style marketplace with 4 unique dining options, Uris Deli, Lenfest Café, Wien Hall, Carelton Lounge, JJ’s Place, Hartley Kosher Deli, two coffee bars, Tasti D-Lite, Tea & Tea, and Café 212.
With twelve locations that order and maintain their own inventories, Eatec’s web-based, enterprise system will provide real-time access to all purchasing, receiving, inventory depletion, spoilage and loss, and transfer activity. “The information and reports provided by EatecNetX will allow management to be involved in operations on a daily basis,” said Larry Levitas, director of dining services. “We will now be a position to react immediately to issues regarding inventory and operations. This will allow us to more effectively manage our food costs and address all the operational concerns of our individual managers.”
EatecNetX provides the means to complete the cycle of information from menu planning based on history through menu and PAR-based just-in-time purchasing, receiving and food production, depletion of inventory based on food production or an interface with the point-of-sale system to track item sales and revenues, and accumulate historical data for future forecasting. In addition, menu planners will be able to perform nutrition analysis on ingredients, recipes, menus and cycle menu plans.
“We are very excited to be working with Columbia University,” said Peter Marguglio, president of Eatec Corporation. “Their selection of EatecNetX demonstrates Eatec’s position as a leader in delivering a superior software solution in the foodservice and university market.”
