Brigham Young University Relies on EatecNetX to
Manage Dining Services and Retail Operations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Emeryville, CA, July 2, 2004 - Brigham Young University, a renowned university in Provo, Utah, is relying on EatecNetX, an award winning enterprise back-office solution from Eatec Corporation, to manage its dining services and retail operations.
Established in 1875, Brigham Young University (BYU) is situated on a 560 acre campus with over 30,000 students and 4,100 full-time faculty, administrative and staff personnel. BYU is nationally recognized for its strong educational programs and high quality of teaching, receiving acclaim from publications such as U.S. News and World Report which gave BYU high marks in several categories in its 2004 “America’s Best Colleges” issue. Through its 11 colleges, BYU offers degrees and doctorates in 295 programs.
Eatec’s back-office technology was implemented by BYU in order to meet the requirements of its extensive operations. EatecNetX is relied on to manage BYU’s foodservice in four restaurants, ten outlets in its kiosks and food courts, a grocery store, and seven production facilities. BYU is using EatecNetX for purchasing and receiving, requisitions and transfers, inventory control, and recipe costing and analysis. In addition, BYU is relying on EatecPocket, a mobile accessory of EatecNetX, to record physical inventory in its commissary.
Bob Smith, dining services systems manager for BYU, said, “In the past, we had five different applications including another vendor’s program, Excel spreadsheets and a homegrown catering program. We did an in-depth search for a replacement solution that took almost a year. After analyzing a number of different programs, with a detailed criteria list with 63 first-priority items including purchasing, inventory and production, we chose Eatec’s software to replace the applications we were using. We selected EatecNetX because it is web-based, it was rated by users as more user-friendly against competing products, and it has an integrated catering module. We are very happy with the results we are already seeing with EatecNetX, and look forward to even more success with Eatec in the future.” Smith gave specific examples of benefits he was seeing with the system by adding, “Our purchasing process has improved considerably with EatecNetX. We are very pleased that EatecNetX considers multiple par levels and quantity on hand to suggest order amounts, thus improving the accuracy and ease of purchasing. The system is also automatically able to compare supplier bids, which shows us accurate price comparisons.”
BYU went live on EatecNetX in October 2003. It will be fully implemented by the end of 2004. In the near future, BYU will be using EatecNetX for production management, retail management in its six convenience stores, event catering and dining facilities. Interfaces will be added to link EatecNetX to BYU’s point-of-sale and financial systems.
“Eatec is pleased to have such an esteemed name as Brigham Young University as one of our university, college and K-12 school clients that we provide with our back-office solution and services,” said Peter Marguglio, president of Eatec. “We are very proud that Eatec’s technology and ease-of-use led Brigham Young University to select Eatec’s solution over competitive applications.”
EatecNetX will be demonstrated at NACUFS (National Association of College & University Foodservice) at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 7 – 8, 2004.
