Eatec Provides Back-Office Foodservice Solution to Three Loews Hotels

Emeryville, CA, June 24, 2002 - Eatec Corporation is pleased to announce the successful installation and continued rollout of their leading enterprise back-office foodservice solution at three Loews Hotels located at the Universal Orlando resort in Florida.
Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and the most recent venture, The Royal Pacific Resort, are renowned Loews Hotels that rely on Eatec’s solution, EatecNet, for their food and beverage operations. Portofino Bay Hotel is an award-winning luxury hotel that has received accolades from Zagat, Conde Nast Traveler magazine and a Four-Diamond restaurant rating from AAA for their onsite restaurant, Delfino Riviera. The Hard Rock Hotel features 650 thematically appointed rooms, four restaurants and lounges, and an unsurpassed collection of rock and roll memorabilia. The Royal Pacific Resort, which had its grand opening June 18, 2002, hosts 1,000 rooms and more than 75,000 square feet of meeting space. A chain of scenic waterways connects all three properties with a water taxi providing transportation to and from the hotels and Universal Orlando’s two theme parks and CityWalk entertainment complex.
By utilizing the Eatec system, Loews Hotels are able to standardize their purchasing processes and streamline their foodservice operations. Requisitions from the outlets and departments are filled by each property’s storeroom and main kitchen. If the inventory is not on hand, the requisitions are retrieved by the central purchasing department, consolidated on one purchase order and sent to the appropriate suppliers. This centralized approach enables Loews Hotels to leverage their purchasing power across the three properties. By the end of June, a supplier bid interface will be implemented so that when a supplier e-mails new pricing and item data to the purchasing department, the Eatec system will be updated with this data enabling product and price comparisons among various suppliers. Eatec’s solution also enables the hotels to track their inventory with respect to what they receive, transfer, and spoil. In addition, they are able to segregate data within the Eatec system so that each property views only the ingredients, recipes and results specific to its operations, although data for all three properties resides in one system.
