Eatec Corporation Introduces EatecPocket, a Wireless Pocket PC Accessory of EatecNetX

Emeryville, CA, May 7, 2002 - Eatec Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise back-office solutions for the foodservice and hospitality industries, today announced the availability of EatecPocket, a new wireless pocket PC accessory of EatecNetX, Eatec’s enterprise back-office system. EatecPocket is a mobile tool enabling users to perform inventory transactions from any location. By using EatecPocket, users have more flexibility on the job, resulting in significant productivity gains.

EatecPocket brings mobile functionality to EatecNetX, a web-centric software solution that enables companies to manage their supply chain, control their inventory and optimize production all in one system. A variety of EatecNetX functions can be performed with EatecPocket including recording physical inventory, posting spoilage and loss, creating requisitions, documenting transfers and posting production.

Use of EatecPocket in a wireless local area network (WLAN) environment results in real-time updates of the central EatecNetX database. EatecPocket does not require data upload, download, or synchronization and all of the updates made with EatecPocket are available instantly, company-wide, to all EatecNetX users.

EatecPocket can read bar code labels if the pocket PC device is equipped with a scanner. Users can scan bar codes when taking physical inventory counts and inputting spoilage and loss, resulting in faster data entry and enhanced productivity.

”Using EatecPocket, users do not have to jot down information that has to be entered again at a workstation. The result is an easier and faster work flow,” says Peter Marguglio, president of Eatec. “The process is not only more efficient, it can reduce errors because the data can be entered at the source.”

EatecPocket is designed to work with pocket PC devices utilizing the Microsoft Windows CE platform. Currently, EatecPocket runs on the Symbol Portable Pen Terminal (PPT) 2800 Series pocket PC device from Symbol Technologies, Inc. EatecPocket only works in a WLAN environment.

EatecPocket will be demonstrated in the Eatec booth at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Restaurant Hotel-Motel show in Chicago and at the HITEC show in Chicago.
