Instill and Eatec Link Procurement and Back-Office Systems for Applebee's International

Redwood City and Emeryville, CA, April 16, 2002 - Instill® Corporation, a leading provider of supply chain solutions for the foodservice industry, and Eatec Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise back-office solutions for the foodservice industry, announced today that they have seamlessly integrated and rolled out their systems at Applebee’s International (NASDAQ: APPB).

Applebee’s corporate units have been using Instill Procurement(SM) as their ordering system for nine months. At the unit level the system allows unit managers to efficiently place their orders on-line. At the corporate level, Instill Procurement(SM) allows Applebee’s to drive compliance by controlling unit level order guides. Eatec has been a long time provider to over 300 of Applebee’s corporate-owned restaurants with the EatecNet enterprise back-office solution. EatecNet enables Applebee’s to reduce their food costs, more effectively manage their inventory and increase their operational efficiency.

“Both systems were doing a good job for us individually,” said Ms. Tamy Duplantis, Vice President of Information Technology, “but the real benefits at the unit level occurred when we integrated the two systems.” Now once an order is placed on Instill’s system, it electronically populates Eatec’s system so that the order can be received without any re-keying from the delivery document into the back-office system.

“This integration is saving our unit managers three to four hours per week,” noted Ms. Duplantis. “Eliminating this non-value added activity represents a significant savings and allows our unit managers to focus on serving our customers better,” she continued.
