American Airlines Center Wins with InfoGenesis Managed Solution
InfoGenesis and Eatec Corporation Support One of the Most Advanced Sports and Entertainment Venues in North America

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Emeryville, CA, April 8, 2002 - InfoGenesis, a leading provider of hospitality information technology, announced today the installation of e-Revelation and EatecNetX, a tightly integrated point-of-sale (POS) and inventory solution, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. For the first time in the rapidly growing U.S. sports and entertainment segment, an integrated POS and enterprise foodservice management solution supports the breadth of stadium customer service, including fine dining, concession, luxury suite, in-seat service, retail, and hawker vending services.

The American Airlines Center is one of the largest and most technologically advanced sports and entertainment venues in North America and is home to the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and the NHL’s Dallas Stars.

“Our goal was to implement technology to enable our customers to order what they want, when they want it, from anywhere in the facility,” said Martin Woodall, owner representative for the Dallas Mavericks. “Our focus on providing excellent service means we need a system that can give us real-time reporting and the flexibility to create a new standard in guest service programs.”

InfoGenesis is the application service provider (ASP) for American Airlines Center, which involves hosting and managing multiple solutions from InfoGenesis and its partners, Eatec Corporation and Ameranth Wireless, at its San Jose, California data center. The POS and inventory solutions are managed via Internet based connectivity to POS terminals operating in the American Airlines Center’s diverse foodservice locations throughout the arena. InfoGenesis experts in Santa Barbara oversee and maintain the system in the data center. This allows the customer to focus attention on enhancing business and the guest experience, rather than worrying about installing, updating and running technology.
EatecNetX, the enterprise foodservice management solution from Eatec Corporation, manages the requisition, purchasing, receiving, production, inventory tracking, catering and suites. Unit managers, customer service and business control staff utilize the sophisticated capabilities of EatecNetX from their desktop browsers, accessing databases maintained at the IBM Equinix data center by the InfoGenesis virtual expert team.

The EatecNetX in-suites catering module manages all advance ordering, food production and delivery requirements for each event. The retail functionality of EatecNetX enables the printing of labels for all retail items so they can be scanned at the POS registers. With both foodservice and retail in one system, arena personnel can run a single profit analysis report for each event.

The InfoGenesis solution includes more than 230 IBM SurePOS 500 point-of-sale terminals -- specially designed for foodservice and hospitality--and 40 Cassiopeia handheld devices to deliver the ultimate in guest experience. InfoGenesis and IBM have partnered for more than 15 years to deliver premium quality POS terminal hardware. IBM’s commitment to open standards enables its technology to be integrated into a solution that fits the customer’s unique requirements. EatecTouch, for example, also runs on the SurePOS terminals, transforming the POS terminal into an inventory reporting station.

InfoGenesis is also partnering with Ameranth Wireless, an expert in providing handheld terminal solutions. The Ameranth solution on the Microsoft Pocket PC platform, utilizes state-of-the-art Extensible Markup Language (XML) gateway architecture to interact in real-time with the InfoGenesis POS back-office allowing guests to purchase anything they want, including retail items, any where in the facility. This unprecedented flexibility represents a major advance for in-seat guest service.

“This is what open systems is supposed to be about,” added Woodall. “The future holds even more promise for enhanced guest experience, because we have deployed an open system with InfoGenesis that gives us the flexibility to improve guest service creatively into the future.”

The system addresses food & beverage and retail sides of the business operation. For the first time in the sports entertainment world, one vendor – InfoGenesis – via its managed solutions product, took responsibility for the solution integration, installation and ongoing support.

“I am truly impressed by the professionalism and quality of combined products that InfoGenesis brought to the table compared to the traditional solutions that have been implemented in sports and entertainment venues,” commented Brad Mayne, CEO of Center Operating Company (COC), the company that owns and operates American Airlines Center. “This integrated solution consolidates inventory control and calculates sales and remaining stock in real-time. It’s fast, robust and easy for the staff to use.”
