Kennedy Space Center Foodservice Reaches New Heights After Launching EatecNet Software

Emeryville, CA, October 24, 2000 - The Kennedy Space Center's foodservice operation, managed by Delaware North Park Services, has celebrated its one-year anniversary with EatecNet software.
Kennedy Space Center is a working space flight facility, home to NASA and frequent shuttle launch activity. A visitor complex is located in the middle of the facility, and offers a variety of food choices from fine dining to quick service and kiosks. These outlets are supplied from a warehouse and multiple production kitchens, all managed by EatecNet. With a large number of tourists year-round, coupled with its diversity in operations, Delaware North sought to implement a management system that could be configured to their requirements, while also being easy to use. EatecNet receives high marks on both accounts.
"EatecNet is helping us run a smoother operation," says Allen Sharrow, Director of Food and Beverage Information Systems. "Fewer administrative hours are spent tracking inventory, allowing more time for managing outlets, ensuring food quality, and keeping guests happy. We trust the numbers we're seeing. We no longer have to physically go out and double check items. In addition, the system has allowed us to implement procedures to better control our purchasing and inventory, so we've seen a reduction in food costs."
EatecNet's menu engineering capacity also makes it an excellent tool for the kitchen to determine the success of menu items. "We can see what's profitable and what's not. It's easy to analyze the cost of our recipes and make pricing changes when appropriate." EatecNet automatically imports sales information from two separate POS systems.
Kennedy Space Center's foodservice operation will soon bring its catering operations online via EatecNet. "With a single, integrated system, it wouldn't make sense to purchase an additional software program for Catering. It will be exciting to run reports that show accurate cost information, by event. Maybe we should do another press release on our two-year anniversary, to let you know how things went," says Sharrow.
