EatecNet Goes to School with Cal Poly

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Emeryville, CA, April 26, 2000 - Eatec Corporation today announced that Cal Poly University, the premier campus of the California State University system, has implemented Eatec's award-winning food and beverage management solution, EatecNet.

Nestled in the foothills of San Luis Obispo, just minutes from California's Central Coast beaches, Cal Poly's entire food and beverage operation, under the auspices of Campus Dining, is managed with the assistance of EatecNet.

The software is utilized by over 30 end-users for purchasing and receiving, on-line requisitions and transfers, inventory control, production management, analyzing sales via a POS interface, catering orders and invoicing, and booking of function rooms. The operational controls made possible by EatecNet are expected to reduce food costs, as a complement to the productivity improvements also attributed to the software.

Campus foodservice nourishes Cal Poly's 2,800 residence students, as well as a day-time population of 20,000 plus. Campus Dining operates the traditional all-you-can-eat meal service common to colleges, along with twelve restaurants, which range from a gourmet coffee and ice cream shop, to a convenience store showcasing student products, to a full service restaurant. Vending machines, athletic event concessions, and day-care meal service are also under Campus Dining's tutelage. The department's catering office provides service to small and large groups throughout the year.

Cal Poly's College of Agriculture has the fourth largest undergraduate enrollment in agriculture and renewable resource programs in the entire country. The beef consumed by the Campus Dining facilities is actually raised by students, and prepared and distributed through the campus butcher shop. EatecNet tracks this process, along with the production and distribution of product from the bakery, salad prep area, and central commissary.

Cal Poly Project Manager Melissa Swanson explained that EatecNet was selected for a variety of reasons, notably its superiority in managing the various production processes; its fully integrated catering module; proven success in similar operations; ease of use; and software flexibility. She notes that Eatec's support during implementation and training has also been outstanding.

Eatec Corporation is a leading provider of back office software for the hospitality and foodservice industries. EatecNet is targeted toward single site, multiple outlet businesses, as well as multiple-site operations requiring an enterprise-wide solution. The software is available as an ASP offering or as a company-operated client/server or web browser application. Additional EatecNet clients include Applebee's International, The Waldorf-Astoria, Madison Square Garden, Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Center, and Tavern on the Green.
